HTCC introduces Nepali Riverblends

Glacial rivers form from the high Himalayan mountains and Tibetan plateau, carving lush valleys landscaped by thousands of village communities.  Spotlighting these majestic waterways, the Himalayan Tea and Coffee company is pleased to present Nepali Riverblends, offering a new Arabica bean from the Nepal Himalayan Range, superbly roasted by Alberto Miranda into 6 distinct flavors named after these wild rivers in Nepal.

Since 2000, our tea company has worked directly with the farmers of central and eastern Nepal, coordinating with herbalists, growers and wildcrafters to bring these special herbal blends to the United States. This fall, celebrate the 10-day family-building holiday of Dashain, the Nepali Festival of Lights, with a sampling of our unique Himalayan teas.

Gourmet Coffee from Nepal; New Specialty Bean Arrives

Coffee as an industry in Nepal is just a decade old, leaving many needs for cooperative development, better trade infrastructure and organic certification of crops. Currently all Nepal coffee is transitional organic, grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides.

Our "Nepali Riverblends" whole bean coffee packs pay tribute to the success of the lush agricultural  lands of the Himalayan people. Hindu and Buddhist alike harvest bountiful crops year after year. These river valleys represent the limitless potentials that Nepalese farmers have to expand their coffee production in a sustainable manner, with help from environmentally minded coffee drinkers.

Tea Farms and Gardens of Nepal

Terraces An ancient tradition of tea farming, Nepal's largest plantations started  with a single plant and through cooperative developments, amount to  thousands of tons exported each year. The Himalayan Tea and Coffee Company works with several cooperative gardens, as well a prize-winning estate called Guranase, all located in Eastern Nepal.

Women in Nepal - Sustainable Farmers Past and Future

Nepali_coffee_hullers Within the matriarchal society of Nepal, Buddhist and Hindu women have tremendous influence on the welfare of tribes and especially their children. Women partake in the seasonal harvests as well as the maintenance of  small family farms. They are responsible for the cooking of their traditional, twice daily meals of dhal bat (rice and beans) and for teaching and caring for the children of their village. Their cooperative ways of raising children are what contribute to the prosperity of a tribe and oftentimes survival depends on them.
